Just a day ago, BJP minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the cabinet. Maurya, who resigned as a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government the day before, said on Wednesday that he will join the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) on January 14 i.e. Friday.
“I will be joining the Samajwadi Party on 14th January. I have not received calls from any small or big politician. If they were cautious on time and worked on public issues, the BJP would not have to face this,” Maurya was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.
BJP is facing a mini exodus from the party as Verma joins other BJP leaders to have left the party.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav met the leaders of allied parties to discuss the formula for seat distribution. The meeting took place in Lucknow on Wednesday.
