Eight additional bodies were recovered from the Kishanpur ghat on Saturday after a boat capsized in the Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district on August 11, news agency ANI reported.


The total number of bodies retrieved in the tragedy has now risen to 11, according to authorities.






The tragedy occurred as a boat carrying 30 to 40 persons was travelling from Marka to Jarauli Ghat in Fatehpur district to visit relatives for Rakshabandhan.

According to the authorities, the process of identifying the remains is beginning, and the search is ongoing.


Divers are being used in the rescue mission by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Kishanpur Police.


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided that the Disaster Relief Fund be used to offer Rs 4 lakh in financial help to the family of each of the deceased.

Prashant Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, stated on Friday that officers from the NDRF, SDRF, and a team of local divers were participating in the search for 17 missing individuals. Rescue operations were delayed due to rain on Thursday night and restarted the next morning.
