Lucknow: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022, a lot of political developments are being witnessed in the state. In a surprising incident, Aam Admi Party leader Sanjay Singh met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday at Lucknow on Saturday afternoon.
Sanjay Singh reached the Samajwadi Party office and reports say that he had an informal meet with Akhilesh Yadav. The meeting of the two leaders is seen as crucial before next year's assembly elections in UP and speculations are rife hinting towards an SP-AAP coalition before the polls.
Though Aam Aadmi Party said that it was a courtesy meet and Singh went to the SP office to wish the SP chief after his birthday.
A day earlier, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati had said that it is the helplessness of the Samajwadi Party to fight the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh with smaller parties. She said that the Samajwadi Party is compelled to do this because most of the big and major parties of the country think it better to avoid them in the elections.
Mayawati wrote in the tweet, 'Due to the bitter experiences of Samajwadi Party's very selfish, narrow and especially anti-Dalit thinking and working style, etc. Which is well known, bigger parties are avoiding them.'
While SP has already announced that there won't be any alliance with big national parties for the upcoming elections, the Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is trying to expand its political horizons and had earlier announced that it is gearing up to contest the upcoming 2022 state assembly polls.
It is pertinent to note that Sanjay Singh is the state in charge of the Aam Aadmi Party in Uttar Pradesh and a meeting like this is bound to raise the political temperature.
