The last rites of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's mother, Madhavi Raje Scindia also known as 'Rajmata,' were held in Gwalior today. Raje had passed away on Wednesday morning at AIIMS, Delhi, where she was undergoing treatment for pneumonia along with sepsis for the last two months.
After her condition deteriorated, she was put on ventilator support for the past two days, and she breathed her last at 9.28 AM on May 15.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president V D Sharma, state ministers Prahlad Patel, Kailash Vijaywargiya, Tulsi Silawat, Pradyumna Singh Tomar and former minister Narottam Mishra were among those who attended her cremation at 'Amma Maharaj Ki Chhatri', where members of the erstwhile royal family of Gwalior are cremated.
Her mortal remains were brought to the cremation ground from the Rani Mahal located in the Jai Vilas Palace in Gwalior in a procession.
Earlier today, her mortal remains arrived at Gwalior airport from Delhi, following which they were taken to their home Jai Vilas Palace for the people of Gwalior to pay their respect.

Confirming the news of his mother's demise, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's team had said: "With great sadness we want to share that Rajmata Madhavi Raje Scindia is no more. Madhavi Raje Scindia, mother of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and queen mother of the Gwalior royal family, was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi for the last two months. The situation was very critical for the last two weeks. He breathed his last at 9.28 AM today [Wednesday] at AIIMS Hospital, Delhi. Om Shanti."
"Thank you all for your condolences and messages on the demise of my respected mother. In this time of grief, your support and togetherness has given me strength, for which I will be forever grateful. Once again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart," Union Minister Scindia wrote on X.
