Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday at the national convention of the Modi community in Gujarat's Ahmedabad that the Congress party has always ignored the OBC community. He also claimed that it is the BJP that is working for them. Congress ruled the country for 56 years but did not develop them (OBC community), but PM Modi has worked for them for the past 9 years; PM comes from a poor family and understands their pain, he said.
It is to be noted that Shah's statement comes in the aftermath of the recent 'Modi surname row' controversy. Rahul Gandhi made a controversial statement during an election campaign rally in 2019.
His remark sparked a political debate and controversy, with Narendra Modi supporters accusing Rahul Gandhi of disrespecting the prime minister and his surname. Gandhi faced criticism and accusations of using derogatory language, while others claimed it was a misunderstanding and that his intention was not to insult Prime Minister Modi or his family name.
