New Delhi: A Delhi Court on Thursday granted bail to former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khali who arrested by Delhi Police in connection with one of the northeast Delhi Riots cases arising out of the FIR registered at PS Khajuri Khas.
While announcing the directive, the court said that he (Khalid) cannot be made to incarcerate in jail for infinity merely on account that others who were part of the mob have to be identified and arrested in the matter.

Khalid was taken into police custody in October last year in a case of violence in Khajuri Khas area of the national capital.
"The applicant (Khalid) is not visible in any CCTV footage/viral video(s) pertaining to the scene of crime on the date of incident. There is no identification of the applicant either through independent public witness or any police witness of he being present at the scene of crime on the date of incident," news agency PTI quoted Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav as saying.
The court even noted that even the CDR location of the mobile phone of applicant was not found at the scene of crime on the date of incident.
A report by Bar and Bench states that Yadav directed Khalid to install the Aarogya Setu app on his phone upon his release. Other conditions of Khalid's bail are that he shall tamper with evidence or influence any witness and shall maintain peace and harmony in the locality.

Khalid was granted bail on the condition of furnishing a personal bond in the sum of Rs 20,000 with one surety of the like amount.
The FIR in the present case was registered in connection with the violence that broke out northeast Delhi on February 2020 where several police officials got injured as they were thrashed by the mob.
