From the point of biodiversity, the Department of Botany at Vikram University is known for its best botanical garden in Madhya Pradesh. For the convenience of the students and visitors, QR codes are being installed on trees located on the campus.
Professor Akhilesh Kumar Pandey, vice-chancellor of Vikram University said: ”This will create awareness among the people about the environment. It will satisfy the curiosity of people related to trees and the initiative will benefit students and research scholars.”
What’s the benefit of a QR code?
The work of QR codes was initiated by Dr Mukesh Vani of the Environmental Management School, under the direction of its chairman Acharya DM Kumawat.
By scanning the QR code, important information related to the tree will be available. The QR code will give information about the botanical, the local name of the tree, and information about its medicinal properties. This will greatly benefit the researchers and students working in the field of botany and agriculture.
Professor Shailendra Sharma of the Vikram University said there is always curiosity among people about the QR code. Most people use Android phones and scanning the QR code on the mobile will give important information about the trees.
“Apart from this, trees will also remain under check. This will also help in saving forest areas. Wide publicity and the use of such a method can prove to be very effective,” added Sharma.
