New Delhi: Two workers at a vehicle workshop died in Chhattisgarh's Raipur after a tyre of a JCB bulldozer burst while gas was being filled. A CCTV footage of the incident was shared by IPS officer Santosh Singh, SP Rajnandgaon. The incident occurred on May 3 in Raipur's Siltara industrial area.
The video shows the two workers being flung into air after the huge tyre of which they were checking the air pressure exploded. The two people died on the spot. A case of negligence has been registered, Santosh Singh case.
At the beginning, the footage shows a worker filling air in the huge tyre. Another man then joins him and presses the tyre a couple of times to check the air pressure. Soon, the tyre explodes, tossing the two men in the air as a cloud of dust envelopes the area.
Reports said both the workers, identified as Rajpal Singh and Pranjan Namdev, belonged to Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. An investigation has been launched into the incident, police said.
Last year, another major explosion at an oil factory in Chhattisgarh's Mahasamund district left four workers seriously injured. The incident took place at Sridham unit in Brikoni industrial area, located about 50 km from Chhattisgarh capital Raipur.

The unit was involved in the extraction of furnace oil from waste tyres by burning them in chambers, PTI reproted. A minor explosion took place in a chamber following which four workers, who were working nearby, got exposed to the hot gas emanating from the chamber and suffered burn injuries, the report said.
