New Delhi: Television anchor and journalist Arnab Goswami has allegedly been attacked by two people riding on a motorbike in the hourly hours in Mumbai. The Republic TV co-founder said the men tried to break the glass window when Goswami along with his wife was returning home.

The incident took place on Ganpatrao Kadam Marg, when Goswami was returning from a studio located in Bombay Dyeing Complex in Lower Parel, a police official said, according to PTI.

The attackers overtook Goswami's car, stopped it and one of them allegedly tried to break the vehicle's glass window by repeatedly hitting it with his hands.

The attackers have thrown an ink bottle on the car when Goswami's security guards behind him in another car, caught hold of the two persons. The attackers were handed over to the N M Joshi Marg Police.

In a video posted after the alleged attack, Goswami said he was told by his security guards that the attackers were Youth Congress workers. There was no confirmation of the same by either police or the youth outfit.

In a video message, Goswami pinned the claims at members of Youth Congress. In the message, as written in Scroll.in, Goswami said,  “I want to tell you Sonia Gandhi, you are the biggest coward in the country right now...You have no guts to face me...I will hold you personally responsible for any consequences of any attack on me. If anything were to happen to me, it is Sonia Gandhi who is responsible.” He added that the [Robert] Vadra family would also be held responsible.

News agency ANI shared the shots of the attack, on their official Twitter handle.

The attack comes after Goswami was criticised by Congress leaders for his comment against Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi in the context of the Palghar lynching incident.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has demanded strict action against the senior journalist Arnab Goswami of the news channel Republic TV.

The CM has slammed Republic TV's Arnab Goswami for accusing Gandhi of being silent on the mob lynching incident which took place in Maharashtra's Palghar on the night of April 16.

Gehlot has demanded Editor's Guild to take action against Goswami for his remarks on Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Gehlot said that Goswami has gone insane and crossed all limits. Other Congress leaders have also lashed out at Goswami’s comments against Sonia Gandhi.

Meanwhile, according to a report in The Hindu Nagpur police late on April 22 night registered an FIR against news anchor and editor of Republic TV Arnab Goswami over a complaint filed by Maharashtra Power Minister Nitin Raut.
