Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha handed over portfolios to new ministers on Friday, but retained control of the crucial Home Ministry, news agency PTI reported.


According to an official announcement issued by Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Saha would retain the Home, Health and Family Welfare, and PWD departments, while Ratan Lal Nath will be in charge of Power, Agriculture, and Farmers' Welfare.


Pranajit Singha Roy is in charge of finance, as well as planning and coordination and information technology.

Sushanta Chowdhury has been appointed Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, Transport, and Tourism, while Santana Chakma has been appointed Minister of Industry and Trade.


Tinku Roy, a first minister, will be in charge of Youth Affairs and Sports.


Bikash Debbarma will be in charge of Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts, Sericulture, and Statistics, while Sudhangshu Das will be in charge of SC Welfare, Animal Resources, and Fisheries.

Sukla Charan Noatia, IPFT's lone MLA, has been assigned the departments of Cooperation, Tribal Welfare (TRP & PTG), and Minority Welfare.


"All other departments which are not allocated to any minister will be looked by the Chief Minister", the notification was quoted by PTI in its report. 


On March 8, Saha and his cabinet were sworn in.

Education, Information and Cultural Affairs, Urban Development, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law, and Legislative Affairs will also be handled by the Chief Minister because they are not assigned to any ministry.


In the recently ended elections, the BJP won 32 seats in the 60-member Tripura Assembly and its coalition partner one seat.
