The seven-member opposition delegation visited violence-affected districts in Tripura and presented a Memorandum to Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya regarding post-poll violence in the state, claiming that full anarchy has prevailed since March 2, news agency ANI reported on Saturday.

"Many left-wing party offices panicked, and the Congress was crushed or set on fire. In a word, complete lawlessness has reigned in the state from March 2nd. The police are trying to control the situation in many places, but they are afraid to arrest anyone because they are affiliated with the ruling BJP. In some places, the police actually aid and abet the attackers. That is why, despite the fact that thousands of attacks have been reported, there has yet to be a report of any culprits being arrested," the Memorandum read.

After speaking with the survivors of the violence, they stated that the situation was beyond their comprehension and far more shocking than they could have imagined.

"What we witnessed and heard from victims' families was beyond our wildest imaginations and far more shocking than we could have imagined. According to the victims, the entire state unleashed an unprecedented wave of terror and intimidation just as the BJP secured a majority in the Assembly election on March 2, 2023. In the name of celebrating the ruling party's victory, its unruly workers unleashed unbridled attacks with inhuman ferocity on the people, primarily targeting opposition leaders, workers, and supporters, resulting in the loss and destruction of a large number of properties. Hundreds of opposition cadres and supporters were subjected to inhumane physical attacks on whomever they came across," it said.

In response to the attack on the joint team in State's Nehal Chandra Nagar, they stated that they were forced to cancel visits to various locations in order to avoid further provocation.

"In order to avoid the recurrence of a similar unwanted situation that we witnessed at Nehal Chandra Nagar, Bishalgarh, we are compelled to abandon our today's programme of visits to various places in order to avoid further such provocation," it read.

According to Congress, BJP workers attacked Congress and Left Front MPs in Bishalgarh's Nehal Chandra Nagar. Several vehicles were vandalised.
