NEW DELHI: Raphael Samuel, a 27-year old Mumbai resident has said he is going to sue his parents for giving birth to him without asking for his consent. He describes himself as an anti-natalist on Facebook and in a video posted on YouTube explained why he wants to sue his parents. Anti-natalists believe it is morally wrong for people to procreate. On Facebook, he runs a page called Nihilanand where he propagates this branch of philosophy,

"I want everyone to realise ne thing that they are born without their consent. I want them to understand that they do not owe their parents anything and if we are born without our consent then we should be maintained throughout our lives. We should be paid to live," he said in a video.

"We came here because of our parents' discretion as they got some happiness by having us or it’s at times by mistake. Either way we were not asked.”

He asks children not to obey their parents unless they really want to. "If you want to do, then do it," he said.

Samuel has made news around the world for his ‘decision’ to take his parents to court.

“I love my parents, and we have a great relationship, but they had me for their joy and their pleasure. My life has been amazing, but I don’t see why I should put another life through the rigamarole of school and finding a career, especially when they didn’t ask to exist,” he told thePrint.

In a post on Facebook, Sameul also shared his mother’s response to his belief and his decision to sue parents.

"I must admire my son's temerity to want to take his parents to court knowing both of us are lawyers. If Raphael could come up with a rational explanation as to how we could have sought his consent to be born, I will accept my fault," she was quoted as saying.

"The media has focussed on a sliver of what Raphael believes in. His belief in anti natalism, his concern for the burden on Earth's resources due to needless life, his sensitivity toward the pain experienced unwittingly by children while growing up and so much more has been ruefully forgotten.

"I'm very happy that my son has grown up into a fearless, independent thinking young man. He is sure to find his path to happiness," she further said.
