New Delhi: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday responded to the remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Congress always insulted Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, while the BJP has honoured him.
Hitting out at the BJP Kharge said, "First tell him to read the debate of Constitutional Assembly. The freedom fight began, after that Poona Pact happened, Gandhiji and BR Ambedkar together made that agreement for Dalits, ask him to read that as well...these people never used to come near BR Ambedkar, they were against the Constitution. When BR Ambedkar made the constitution, at the same time, these people burned the constitution at Ramleela Maidan".
Addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Hoshangabad, PM Modi criticised the Congress for overlooking the contributions of tribal communities and disrespecting Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
"The Congress always insulted Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, we have honoured him", PM Modi said on the birth anniversary of the architect of India's Constitution. He emphasised the significance of Dr. Ambedkar's Constitution by citing the election of Droupadi Murmu, a tribal woman, as President of India, reported PTI.
PM further took a dig at the saffron party, saying, "The Congress is saying that if I become prime minister for the third time, the country will be in flames", Modi said targeting the opposition party. PM Modi criticises opposition's indecision, and said, 'Phir Ek Baar, Modi Sarkar' slogan gaining momentum nationwide.
Modi Doesn’t Have Any Dream: PM
PM Modi also addressed a constituent of the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc, which has pledged to completely eliminate nuclear weapons in its manifesto. PM Modi told the gathering, "Modi doesn’t have any dream; your dreams are my mission", He also announced that his government will celebrate 2025 as the 'Janjatiya Gourav Diwas' to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
