Intense Poll Campaigns In MP, Chhattisgarh To TMC's Protest Against Centre In Delhi: The Week Ahead

PM Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh in the week ahead, while the Congress will launch Nharosa Yatras in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, TMC's Abhishek Banerjee is likely to skip the ED's summons.

The BJP and Congress will intensify their poll campaigns in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in The Week Ahead. PM Modi and Priyanka Gandhi will be in MP, while the Congress will conduct Bharosa Yatras in all 90 constituencies of Chhattisgarh.

Stay with ABP Live as we try to cut the clutter around the latest news from the political arena and help you understand what is likely to happen in The Week Ahead. Here are the biggest political developments expected to play out this week.

PM Modi To Be On MP Campaign Trail For Two Days

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on two visits to Madhya Pradesh, with stops in Gwalior on Monday and Jabalpur on Thursday, to unveil a slew of developmental projects. The focus of the tour is the inauguration of the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway, that has been built at a cost of Rs 11,895 crore.

According to a release from the Prime Minister's Office and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in addition to launching the Expressway, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for five road projects worth over Rs 1,880 crore during his visit to Gwalior.

The Prime Minister is slated to conduct the 'griha pravesh' ceremony for over 2.2 lakh homes constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin. Additionally, he will inaugurate residences developed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban, with an estimated cost of about Rs 140 crore.

Modi will also initiate the foundation stone-laying ceremony for 'Jal Jeevan Mission' projects, valued at over Rs 1,530 crore, spanning Gwalior and Sheopur districts. These initiatives are expected to immensely benefit more than 720 villages in the region.

PM Modi will further lay the foundation stone for nine health centres under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, along with inaugurating and launching several other projects.

MP Bharatiya Janata Party chief VD Sharma shared with PTI on Sunday that PM Modi is expected to arrive around 4 pm and depart from Gwalior before 6:30 pm. Notably, this visit marks Modi's fourth appearance in less than two months and the eighth in the past seven months in Madhya Pradesh, a state where Assembly polls are expected to take place at the end of the year.

On October 5, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones of projects amounting to Rs 12,000 crore in Jabalpur. As part of this, he will also initiate the foundation of a museum dedicated to tribal queen Rani Durgavati.

Congress To Launch Bharosa Yatras In Chhattisgarh

In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the ruling Congress in Chhattisgarh has announced plans to conduct day-long 'Bharosa Yatras' (trust marches) across all 90 assembly constituencies of the state on October 2. The objective of these marches is to apprise the public of the various welfare schemes implemented by the government.

Sushil Anand Shukla, the head of the Chhattisgarh Congress unit's communication wing, said the party will highlight "the BJP's betrayal" against the people.

Participating in the marches in their respective constituencies will be Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, his cabinet colleagues, Congress MLAs, and MPs, according to Shukla.

The yatras are expected to cover a distance of 25-30 kilometres in each constituency. During the march, 'nukkad sabhas' (street corner meetings) and public gatherings will be organized, with a focus on reaching as many villages and panchayats as possible, Shukla added.

Despite ED Summons, Abhishek Banerjee To Lead TMC Protest In Delhi

All India Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has thrown a virtual challenge to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), announcing his plans to be in New Delhi on October 2 and 3 to lead the party's protest against the Central government.

The two-day protest, declared by the Trinamool, accuses the Narendra Modi government of withholding funds for various central schemes. Concurrently, the ED has summoned Banerjee on October 3 in relation to an alleged school jobs scam. The ED is investigating the money laundering aspect of the purported scam, following a directive from the Calcutta High Court.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Banerjee, also the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, boldly declared, "Stop me if you can."

The ED has directed the Diamond Harbour MP, who is also the CEO of the firm Leaps and Bounds Pvt Ltd, to appear with documents at its office in the CGO Complex, Salt Lake, on October 3 at 10:30 AM.

Despite the summons, Banerjee remains resolute in his commitment to the cause, stating, "The fight against the non-transfer of funds to WB and its rightful dues will persist regardless of the obstacles. No force on Earth can hinder my dedication to fighting for the people of WB and their fundamental rights. I'll be in Delhi joining the protest on October 2 and 3."

Reflecting on a previous summons earlier in the month, Banerjee remarked, "The ED conveniently served me a notice to appear before them on the very same day! One can't help but marvel at the timidity and vacuousness of the 56-inch chest model. Fear of I.N.D.I.A," referring to his previous call by the ED.

Priyanka Gandhi To Launch Congress' Statewide Campaign In Madhya Pradesh

Following the inaugural public meeting by Rahul Gandhi in the Kalapipal assembly constituency of Shajapur, the national general secretary of the Congress party, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is set to launch the state-wide campaign with a rally scheduled for October 5 in the tribal-dominated region of Mohankheda in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar.

The strategic move by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra aims to connect with a pivotal voter base and underscore the party's dedication to addressing the concerns and issues of the tribal community.

In a significant development, the former Chief Minister Kamal Nath has entrusted the coordination of the rally to the seasoned party leader Digvijaya Singh.

Sabir Fitwel, the spokesperson for the Congress division, disclosed that Singh would convene a meeting with party leaders hailing from eight districts within the Indore division on Sunday. Notably, leaders from the Ratlam district are also slated to participate in the gathering.

The meeting is anticipated to draw the presence of sitting Members of Parliament, former Members of the Legislative Assembly, as well as leaders of diverse political organizations. The assembly aims to set the tone for the upcoming campaign and foster unity among party members across the region.

Nadda To Hold Key Meet With Party Leaders In Telangana

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda is scheduled to hold a crucial meeting with state unit leaders in the city on October 5 in poll-bound Telangana. The gathering, which is expected to draw over 500 leaders, aims to facilitate the organization of a state council meeting comprising 150 members. The primary agenda of the meeting is to officially ratify the appointment of G Kishan Reddy as the new chief, in accordance with the party's rule book, which mandates state council approval for leadership transitions.

Typically, individuals who have a long-standing history with the party and have held leadership positions above the mandal level are appointed as state council members. In addition to this, Nadda will engage with members of the assembly, prabharis, and state office-bearers during his visit.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for Mahabunagar. He is expected to arrive in the city on October 1 at 1:30 pm and will virtually inaugurate developmental initiatives.
