Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday responded to sloganeering and ruckus by the opposition saying, "the more you throw 'keechad', the better the lotus will bloom," as he responded to a debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's address in Rajya Sabha.
He said, "I want to tell these MPs (Oppostion MPs)...the more you throw 'keechad', the better the lotus will bloom."
Opposition MPs stormed the well of the House demanding the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Adani Issue as PM Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha.
Reacting to the ruckus, PM Modi said, "The country carefully hears what is said in this House. Some MPs are bringing disrepute to this House."
Hitting out at the Congress, he said, "They (Congress) used to say ‘Gareebi Hatao’ but did nothing for over four decades. While we work hard to meet the expectations and aspirations of the people of the country."
"Our priority is the common public, and this is the reason we made LPG connections available to 25 crore families in the country," he added.
PM Modi's fresh dig at the Opposition comes a day after he said "some people who are neck deep in frustration cannot see India's growth story" during his speech in Lok Sabha.
The PM said the world was looking at India with hope amid instability in some parts of the globe due to the once-in-a-century pandemic and conflicts.
"A few people, drowning in despair, are uanble to accept the country's progress. They don't see achievements of the people of the country. It's the result of the efforts of 140 crore people of the country due to which India is making a name. They don't see those achievements," he further said.
In a sneering jibe at the Oppostion, PM Modi said the Enforcement Directorate was able to bring all Opposition parties together on one platform, which the electorate could not do.
Hitting out at the Congress-led UPA regime, PM Modi said its trademark was to let every opportunity turn into crisis from 2004-2014, terming the 10 years as India's "lost decade".
"During 10 years of UPA govt, inflation was in double digits and hence when something good happens, their sadness increases. In the history of the country's independence, 2004-2014 was full of scams. Terror attacks took place across the country in those 10 years," he said.
Training his guns on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in Parliament, PM Modi had said the entire "ecosystem" and their supporters were jubilant after "some people's remarks" in Lok Sabha.
"Leaders spoke on President's address as per their interest, nature but their utterances also reflect their capability, capacity, intent. After some people's remarks yesterday in Lok Sabha, entire 'ecosystem' and their supporters were jubilant," PM Modi said.
On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, speaking in the Lok Sabha, linked the massive rise in the business fortunes and personal wealth of businessman Gautam Adani to the Modi government coming to power in 2014.
