A teenager allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra's Thane on Friday after her father objected to her downloading the social media app Snapchat on her phone. According to PTI, the incident occurred on Friday night, at Nilje in the Dombivli area. 


The 16-year-old had downloaded the Snapchat application on her mobile phone, and got angry when her father asked her not to do so, an official from Manpada police station told PTI.


The girl then allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling of a bedroom, with the family finding her dead the next day. The police were alerted and her body was taken for postmortem. A case of accidental death has been registered in the matter.

Influencer Dies By Suicide In Kerala


A popular social media influencer in Kerala who allegedly attempted suicide last week died on Sunday night. Her family members alleged on Monday that she took her life after facing cyberbullying, IANS report reported. The girl had 1.42 lakh followers on her Instagram account.


The deceased was a Class 12 student at a girls’ school under the Kerala government in Thiruvananthapuram. 


Police have launched a probe after registering a case of unnatural death. The girl reportedly became a victim of cyberbullying after she and her male friend split, sources told IANS. Unable to face the bullying, she attempted suicide. 


According to an India Today report, a case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the ex-boyfriend. He has also been booked for alleged abetment of suicide after the girl's family filed a complaint against him.
