Amid the rise in the cases of Covid-19 in some districts of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led state government has issued Instructions to ensure immediate necessary action in all those districts, where the cases are rising. All frontline workers and hospitals have been asked to stay vigilant. The instructions have also been issued for intensive sampling and testing at the places where the cases of Covid-19 are being reported.


Along with this, instructions have also been given to closely monitor the cases of Respiratory Tract Infection (RTI), Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) in all the districts. Severe acute respiratory infection (all) cases have been asked to get tested for seasonal influenza if the Covid test is negative.


Notably, there has been a partial increase in the cases of Covid-19 in the state in the last few days. As on March 28, the number of active patients of Covid-19 was 340. Following the rise in Covid Cases, the state government has issued instructions to make necessary arrangements.


However, as of March 28, the districts which are most affected by Covid-19 are Gautam Budh Nagar (57), Ghaziabad (55), Lakhimpur Kheri (44), Lucknow (27), Bijnor (12), Lalitpur (9) and Saharanpur (8). The instructions have also been issued to ensure careful monitoring of the present situation in these districts.


The instructions were issued during a presentation on the subject of Communicable Disease Control and Dastak Abhiyan before the Chief Secretary. Instructions have also been given to ensure availability of logistics, medicines, PPE kits, gloves, masks and equipment, oxygen plant and concentrator in hospitals. The district administration has been asked to ensure that dedicated hospitals and wards are activated immediately in order to handle severe cases.


The state government has also issued directions and asked the authorities to take special precautions in the districts which were hit severely by the pandemic in the past. Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Varanasi are such districts in the state which are considered sensitive.


It is pertinent to note that a communicable disease control campaign is to be launched in the state from April 1 to April 30. The Dastak campaign will run from April 17 to 30. Under this campaign, arrangements will be made for cleanliness and water logging disposal in rural and urban areas. Along with this, intensive vector, mosquito control activities will be carried out in high risk areas with inter-departmental cooperation. Awareness activities will be organised in schools for prevention of diseases.
