A group of terrorists opened fire on an off-duty Army jawan, leaving him injured in the Tral area of Awantipora in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Army jawan was on leave and had come home to spend time with his family. The jawan was shot in the leg and sustained two bullet injuries on the legs. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment, where his condition is stated to be stable.
The soldier has been identified as Delhair Mushtaq, a resident of Aripal area in Tral. The incident occurred near his house at Sofigund, officials said.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the assailants, the officials said.
Earlier in the day, terrorists hurled two grenades at an Army post in Poonch district. One of the two grenades exploded. There were no reported casualties in the attack.
"Terrorists lobbed two grenades at an Army post behind an Army camp in the Surankote area. While one of them exploded, the other did not and was subsequently defused by experts during the search operation, they said.The safety pin of the exploded grenade was found near the perimeter wall of the Army camp," officials said.

A massive search operation was launched by the Army and police in the area to track down the terrorists, who fled after the attack, the officials said.
