New Delhi: Unidentified terrorists fired shots at a government employee in the Bemina area of Srinagar. The civilian is working in the revenue department of the Jammu and Kashmir government and survived the attack as the bullets missed the target. The area has been cordoned off and searches have been launched. Meanwhile, TRF has claimed the responsibility for the attack and said that the official was involved in the demolition drive.
Srinagar Police tweeted, "Some gunshot-like sound was heard in Qamarwari area. Police team is in the locality to ascertain facts, there is no damage or injury whatsoever. Cordon and Search Operations launched in the area."
In one joint operation of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir, an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Tangdhar sector of the Union Territory was foiled on Thursday. One terrorist has been killed in the operation and searches are still continuing in the area.
According to the Army, the troops deployed in an anti-infiltration grid detected the movement of three terrorists across the LoC while they were approaching the LoC fence.
Confirming the incident, the official handle of Kashmir zone police tweeted, “During the preceding night, based on a specific input generated by Kupwara police, a joint team of Army & Police intercepted an infiltrating group in Saidpora forward area. The joint team has neutralised one infiltrator. Search is still going on. Further details shall follow."
“Indian Army eliminated an infiltration attempt in forward areas of Tangdhar sector on the night of 15/16 February 2023, thereby preventing efforts of Pakistan to destabilise peace and tranquillity in Kashmir valley and successfully maintaining higher moral ascendancy over the enemy along the Line of Control,” a defence spokesman said.
