New Delhi: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh arrested Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Tehrikh-e-Taliban Pakistan-linked terrorist Muhammad Nadeem from Saharanpur on Friday, news agency ANI reported.

According to the report, Nadeem was in direct contact with Pakistan-based terrorist outfits JeM and TTP. He was given the task by JeM to kill Nupur Sharma, ATS said.

It is to be noted that the development comes just a few days after the ATS in Uttar Pradesh arrested an alleged ISIS operative who was planning an Independence Day blast, said an official as reported by news agency PTI.

According to the police, accused Sabauddin Azmi, a member of Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM, was working on a plan to establish Islamic State in India and implement Sharia law by forming a Mujahideen organisation in contact with ISIS.

Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Law and Order Prashant Kumar said in a statement issued on Tuesday that the ATS team arrested Sabauddin, a resident of Amilo in Mubarakpur police station area of Azamgarh district, at the ATS headquarters. He said that a case has been registered against Azmi under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and 3/25 Arms Act.

The ATS has recovered bomb-making material, explosives and a number of illegal arms and cartridges from the accused, the statement said.

The statement said that the ATS had received information that a person from Amilo of Azamgarh, influenced by the ideology of ISIS, is spreading jihadi ideas and inspiring others to join the banned terrorist organization ISIS.
