The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out searches at a number of Jharkhand premises connected to Pankaj Mishra, a close associate of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Mishra serves as the Sahibganj constituency's MLA representative, news agency ANI reported.


At 18 locations, including Sahibganj, Berhait, and Rajmahal, the raids are being conducted in connection with a tender fraud.

In connection with an alleged fraud involving the use of market tender in Sahebganj's Barharwa in 2020, ED is conducting raids, ANI reported.


Shambhu Bhagat, who submitted a proposal for the contract, has filed a complaint against Pankaj Mishra and a few other people. He even threatened to withdraw his bid after alleging that Pankaj Mishra had ordered him to be physically assaulted.

Alamgir Alam was competing in the same tender brother of Jharkhand minister.


The complaint claimed that a significant fraud was carried out through a fictitious firm in order to award the deal to the minister's brother.

Under the 2002 Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the ED had assumed control of the matter that had been reported to the Barharwa police station and launched an investigation, according to ANI.
