New Delhi: People of Delhi are shivering in cold wave conditions with the minimum temperature dropping to 3.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday, making it among the coldest December days in the national capital. Delhi has been reeling under intense cold wave conditions for the past few days. On December 23, the minimum temperature was recorded at 3.7 degrees Celsius. It is expected to dip to 3 degrees Celsius after December 28.


Although the effect of fog in Delhi today is much less than some previous days but cold winds are adding to the chill. The city can expect a typically cold and freezing run-up to New Year, as the Met office has forecast below-normal night temperatures continuing more or less for the rest of the month.

Meanwhile a after Christmas, many trains are affected due to bad weather conditions. The train, Sampoornakranti Express which starts from Patna and runs to New Delhi was cancelled, while trains like Mahabodhi Express, Kashivishwanath Express and others are running late. Check train status here-

The weather forecast agency said drop in temperature may lead to formation of ground frost in many parts of north-west plains. “The moisture will decrease reduction in intensity of fog, but the pollution levels will continue to remain in very poor to severe category in Delhi. Winter in Delhi may worsen as temperatures are all set to fall further,” a weather expert was quoted as saying.
