Ibrahimpur village has become an inspiration for the entire country.
A small village of 1200 people, Ibrahimpur 'gao' is the first cashless village of Southern India. All kinds of payments, big and small, are made through debit or credit cards.
Let alone commercial shops. Every tea stall on the sides of the Telangana roads in this village has a card-swipe machine. Which means that one can pay for a Rs 5 tea cup through his card.
Similarly, one can pay for the meat at meat shops through their cards.
The village started schemes to open bank accounts for its people as soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the decision to demonetise high currency notes to fight the menace of black money.
And within a short span of 40 days, the village turned into a completely cashless village.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday said that all villages in the state should become self-sufficient, self-governed and self-reliant, adding that Eravelli and Narasampet villages are moving towards this direction and all the other villages in the state should take this as an example and achieve an all round development.
He also said the state should become number one in country in cashless transactions and appealed to people to make it happen.
He said that government will educate and make people aware about benefits of cashless transactions and encourage it.
