Tensions flared outside Gachibowli Police Station on Thursday as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) cadres staged a protest against the detention of former minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao. Earlier, BRS MLA P. Kaushik Reddy, legislator from the Huzurabad constituency was taken into custody earlier in connection with a case alleging obstruction, abuse, and threats against a police official. The controversy escalated when Harish Rao along with other party members, was detained while attempting to meet Kaushik Reddy at his residence in Kondapur.
Party workers, angered by the arrests, gathered outside the police station, raising slogans against the Telangana government.
BRS leader Dasoju Sravan Kumar sharply criticised CM Revanth Reddy, alleging misuse of police power and a breakdown of governance in Telangana. "Police repression is the final refugee of a failing ruler. Unfortunately in Telangana, Revanth Reddy has turned out to be a colossal failure in Telangana as a CM...there is no people's governance in Telangana...what is happening here? I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, how did you make such a man the CM of Telangana...he is destroying the people of Telangana," Kumar said.
Meanwhile, Kaushik Reddy was arrested based on a complaint lodged by the Inspector of the Banjara Hills Police Station. The complaint accused Reddy and his supporters of unlawful assembly, obstructing a public servant, criminal intimidation, and creating a public nuisance, as per a report on PTI.
Police reported that on Wednesday, the Inspector was obstructed while on emergency duty by Reddy and his associates, who allegedly blocked the officer's vehicle, abused him, and issued threats. The group reportedly ignored instructions to submit their grievances through appropriate channels.
