NEW DELHI: From Rajanna Sirsilla district of Telangana, a man named Chandu Goud started a unique protest after petrol prices reduced by nine paise in the state.
He sent a cheque of nine paise to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Goud says that these nine paise should reach the Prime Minister's relief fund.
He handed over the cheque of nine paise to Collector Krishna Bhaskar, who was present in the Praja Vani programme.
Daily revision in petrol and diesel prices, which was introduced in mid-June last year, had come in for criticism after rates were hiked everyday last month in step with firming international oil rates.
The government had in June last year junked a 15-year old practice of revising rates every fortnight and introduced daily revisions which worked well except periods immediately preceding an election.
