New Delhi: Asserting the Central government has never treated any state with a step-motherly treatment, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said Telangana has always been in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s heart but unfortunately the ruling dispensation did not receive a lot of support from the state.
The Home Minister said Prime Minister Modi has spent Rs 2,52,202 crore in Telangana.
“We sent money under various heads. We have never treated any state with a step-motherly treatment,” news agency ANI quoted Shah as saying in his address at the Telangana Formation Day celebrations in the national capital.
“Telangana has always been in PM Modi’s heart but unfortunately, we did not receive a lot of support from the state,” he added.
The Home Minister said the history of formation of Telangana has been full of struggles.
“For years, its youth struggled and sacrificed for establishment of Telangana. Ultimately, on June 2, 2014, the youngest state of India came into existence,” he added.
