Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs wore black clothes and handcuffs to Telangana Assembly on Tuesday as a form of protest against the arrest of tribal farmers from Lagacharla village in Vikarabad district. The Opposition demanded the immediate release of the farmers and also urged the state government to apologise over their alleged mistreatment.
On Monday, the BRS members submitted an adjournment motion notice to the Council Chairman seeking a discussion on Lagacharla Farmers issue. However, the the notice was rejected. Following this, the members resorted to slogans, displayed placards and demanded the withdrawal of cases filed against the farmers.
Against this backdrop, the BRS MLAs on Tuesday wore black clothes to the Assembly.

The tribal farmers were taken into custody following an alleged attack on the district collector and officials during a public hearing on land acquisition for a pharma cluster. On December 13, Armed Reserve (AR) constables handcuffed Heerya Naik and later took him to a hospital for a medical examination.
Naik, who reportedly suffers from a cardiac condition, was handcuffed by AR constables while also being taken to a hospital from Sangareddy Jail.
The opposition also termed the incident of a handcuffed farmer being escorted to a hospital as 'inhumane'.
Taking note of the Naik incident, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ordered an inquiry into the handcuffing of the farmer, as per a report on The News Minute. Expressing his displeasure, the Chief Minister questioned officials about the necessity of such treatment and emphasised the need for humane handling of the situation.
