IRCTC Suspends Operation Of India's First Private Train Tejas Express On Lucknow-Delhi, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Routes| Check Details

Coronavirus In India: The first private train of the country Tejas Express is being taken off track on two of the routes amid a shortage of passengers witnessed amid the Covid-19 crisis. It is to be noted that the train has resumed operations in the month of October after its services were suspended in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The IRCTC (Indian Railway Cetring and Tourism Corporation) Cancelled the operation of the train from Monday (November 23). The suspension will be on Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad routes.

In a statement issued earlier, the IRCTC had said that it has decided to cancel the operations of all Tejas trains due to a shortage of passengers. IRCTC has canceled the Lucknow-New Delhi (82501/82502) Tejas Express from November 23 while the Ahmedabad-Mumbai (82901/82902) Tejas Express from November 24.
“The management has decided to cancel all departures of IRCTC Tejas trains due to low occupancy levels resulting from coronavirus(Covid-19) pandemic. The company will review its decision after seeing the occupancy level of other trains of Indian Railways operating in both these routes,” the statement read.
India is again witnessing a surge in its Covid-19 cases after a brief period of let-up in the cases, triggering hectic parleys and return of restrictions in several states. Amid the sudden spike in the number of Coronavirus cases in several Northern states, the Union Government has decided to depute high level Central Teams to Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to support the States in COVID response and management.
