New Delhi: Barely six months into his marriage, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, has filed for divorce from his wife Aishwarya Rai. The divorce petition has been filed in Patna's family court. The couple had tied the knot in May this year. Reports say there was a running disagrement between the two in the last few months which precipitated into a mutually agreed split. The development comes as jolt to the RJD chief who is is currently serving term in Ranchi jail for fodder scam but is currently ailing and admitted to a hospital. Lalu has been trying to keep the flock together amid reports of a discord between Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Yadav. During his feud with Tejashwi, Aishwarya also expressed disappointment over flippant remarks being swung at Tej Pratap by party members belonging his younger brother's camp.

Tej Pratap had declared after five days of being married that he does not want his wife to enter politics but the circumstances changed after a month itself. There is a strong buzz Aishwarya would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Saran. There were reports of Rabri also not being in favour of Aishwarya joining the political ring.

Meanwhile, Tej Pratap's  father-in-law Chandrika Rai, mother-in-law and sister-in-law have reached Lalu's residence. Watch video-

Aishwarya is not new to politics. She is the granddaughter of former chief minister Daroga Prasad Rai and daughter of former minister Chandrika Rai, who is the MLA from Parsa in Saran district. A ruckus  had ensued at the wedding of Tej Pratap and Aishwarya on May 12 in which gatecrashers looted edibles and also destroyed the caterer's crockery and utensils. RJD chief Lalu Yadav was out on parole to attend the wedding of Tej Pratap.

Tej Peratap's younger brother Tejashwi, had drawn drew flak  last month end for sharing the stage with people with criminal backgrounds during his ongoing "samvidhan bachao nyay yatra" across Bihar. Tejashwi is a former Deputy Chief Minister and present Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly. Experts believe he will be the successor to Lalu Prasad in politics. This could perhaps be the reason why Tej Pratap in June had said he was being "ignored and sidelined" in the party.

Lalu is suffering from diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney failure, and underwent a heart valve replacement in Mumbai in 2014. Recently he has undergone surgery for fistula.
