Months after remaining shut due to the Coronavirus pandemic, several other economic activities are set to resume in Tamil Nadu. The State government on Saturday permitted schools, colleges, cinemas, zoos and amusement parks to reopen from next month. In an official release issued today, Chief Minister K Palaniswami said that schools, colleges, educational institutions, and hostels would be allowed to open from November 16. It must be noted that school are allowed to conduct classes for standards 9-12 only following Standard Operating Procedures.



As far as the movie theatres are concerned, the state government permitted the owners to re-open cinema hall from November 10 with 50 per cent occupancy.

In addition to this, the state government has also decided to re-open amusement parks, entertainment parks and museums from November 10. Further relaxing the lockdown restrictions, the government permitted religious, community and cultural gatherings to resume from November 16 onwards.

Gym owners have been directed to allow 60 people from Sunday, while the wedding and funerals can have a gathering of upto 100 people.

A TOI report mentioned that the wholesale fruit markets in Chennai running on temporary premises can now move to Koyambedu market from November 2. Meanwhile, the retail sale of fruits and vegetables at Koyambedu will begin from November 16 in three phases.

Moreover, the Suburban trains can now resume operations as as per the decision of the Union government, adhering to standard operating procedures.
