Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha on Sunday targeted Union minister Ranjnath Singh for his comments on Punjab who alleged poor law and order situation in the state. Chadha said Singh has received wrong information and demanded that he take responsibility for the situation in Manipur. “I think that Rajnath Singh has received the wrong information about Punjab. In Punjab under the AAP- Bhagwant Mann government, the law and order situation in the state has improved,” he told news agency ANI.
“The law and order situation in Punjab is way better compared to the last few decades,” he added.
“I request the Defence Minister that Manipur is burning, lakhs of people are homeless, and thousands are dead so take responsibility for it first before pointing out other states,” the AAP MP said.
Chadha’s statement came in response to Rajnath Singh’s remark who alleged that the law and order situation in Punjab was not good and asked the Bhagwant Mann led government to pay attention to it.
“With the current Punjab government, you know what the (law and order) situation in the state is....I am the Defence Minister and I am aware of Punjab and Punjabiyat,” said the Union minister while addressing a public rally in capital city Chandigarh.
“When it comes to the security of the nation, the people of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh forget all grievances and stand together...I expect this (Punjab) government to take steps to control the law and order situation in the state but the state government isn't doing so,” he added.
Series of ethnic clashes have rocked the north eastern state of Manipur since May 3 after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was taken out by the All Tribal Students’ Union of Manipur protesting against the Meitei reservation in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list.
The violence between Meitei and Kuki communities has killed over a 100 people so far.
