In what comes as a major relief for students and maids amid the curbs imposed by the Maharashtra Government till April 30 to tackle the Covid-19 challenge, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has in an order clarified the permitted movement of those appearing for their examinations besides maids and online service providers.


As per the order, students or candidates who have to appear in various examinations, including competitive examinations, are permitted to make the necessary movement to attend the exams during the weekend lockdown and their examination hall tickets should be considered valid for the same. The order added the students are allowed to be accompanied by one guardian or parent.

With regard to online food deliveries, the BMC order said all online home deliveries of food and essential supplies through service providers like Zomato, Swiggy etc. are allowed 24 hours on all days of the week. The BMC also clarified that take away from hotels in person are not allowed during the weekend lockdown but home deliveries are allowed.



The order said roadside food stalls, including fruit stalls, are allowed during weekend lockdown only to provide parcels or take away services, adding nobody is allowed to stand and consume food items there.

The BMC further said the movement of maids, cooks, drivers, nurses and medical attendees providing services to senior citizens and ailing people at home is allowed between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on all days. 


The civic body added eye clinics and opticians shops are permitted to remain open within the given time issued by the Maharashtra Government.
