NEW DELHI: Swami Agnivesh on Friday was allegedly attacked outside the BJP headquarters when he came to pay his respects to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

It is said that soon after Agnivesh arrived at the venue on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, some people raised slogans asking him to go back. In a video shared on social media site, people can be seen raising slippers at him.

The Delhi Police then took Agnivesh in a van and moved him to safety.

Former PM Vajpayee, a three-time prime minister and the BJP's patriarch, died yesterday at 93. His body was kept at the BJP's new office on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya road for tributes before his funeral with full state honours.

Earlier in July, Social Activist Swami Agnivesh was thrashed an kicked allegedly by BJP Yuva Morcha workers in Jharkhand's Pakur district.

Agnivesh was seen in the visuals exiting a building following which he was attacked by a group of people. He fell on to the ground and was still beaten by the irate crowd.

He subsequently lodged a complaint with the Ranchi police stating that a group of people allegedly belonging to the RSS, and BJYM entered the premises and assaulted him. However, no arrests have been made so far.
