According to reports, no casualty has been reported and effort to douse the fire is currently underway.
As per officials, neither any patient nor any hospital staff has been stuck at the building where the fire broke out.
Mayor Firhad Hakim and State Power, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Arup Biswas have visited the spot after the incident was reported.
"A CT scan machine has been totally gutted because of the fire. There had been no casualty or injury. Actually, the tension was because the spot where the fire was detected is adjacent to the emergency division where patients and their family members crowd round the clock," he said.
As per preliminary reports, the fire that broke out at the CT scan room spread to the X-ray room in a matter of minutes. Police suspect one scanning machine to be the cause behind the fire.
