SP Workers Put Up Akhilesh Yadav 'Future PM' Hoarding In UP, BJP Calls It 'Mungeri Lal Ke Sapne'

BJP has mocked the Samajwadi Party after its party workers put up a hoarding in Uttar Pradesh calling Akhilesh Yadav as "future Prime Minister" of the country.

Samajwadi Party workers on Monday put up a hoarding in Uttar Pradesh's capital city Lucknow referring to party chief Akhilesh Yadav as the "future Prime Minister" of the country, saying that they want him to be the leader of the opposition's I.N.D.I.A bloc. Now, the BJP has mocked the act and said the party and its leaders were "daydreaming". The hoarding was reportedly put by party spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan, reported ANI.

"Samajwadi Party leaders and workers want Akhilesh Yadav to become the PM of the country...In the INDIA alliance, we want Akhilesh Yadav to become the face of Prime Minister...Anybody can claim but the one who can actually defeat BJP is Samajwadi Party," Hasan told ANI.

Meanwhile, reacting to it, BJP leader and minister in the UP government, Danish Azad Ansari said it was "Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne" that the party is seeing, adding that one should dream as per one's "capability".

"There is a saying, 'Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne'. Nobody can stop anyone from daydreaming. But one should dream as per one's capability. Under PM Modi's leadership, our country is going ahead on the path of development. People of the country trust PM Modi and the country will definitely elect PM Modi as the PM for the third time," Ansari said.

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said that leaders in I.N.D.I alliance have the ambition of becoming PM and they have no vision for the country.

"This is why the Congress issued a poster, portraying Rahul Gandhi as the PM. Whereas TMC says that Mamata Banerjee will be the PM, and today the people of Samajwadi party are saying that Akhilesh Yadav will be the PM," he said.

When asked about the hoarding, Bihar Deputy CM and Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said this was no issue as people put posters making him Krishna and Arjun as well.

"People keep sticking posters...This is not the issue..." Yadav said.

This comes amid an ongoing tussle between the SP and Congress in Madhya Pradesh after the former expressed anger over Congress's reluctance in seat-sharing in the state ahead of assembly polls. Other parties of the I.N.D.I.A bloc are of the view that the coordination panel must intervene after Yadav warned Congress of the same treatment in UP. Congress meanwhile has said that the I.N.D.I.A coalition was formed for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and not state elections.
