New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi on Sunday for a routine medical check-up, news agency PTI reported. He was admitted in the Medicine Department after he complained of chest pain on Saturday night, the sources said. "He is doing fine. He has been admitted for a routine check-up," PTI quoted one of its sources as saying.

It is to be noted that Azam Khan was recently released from the Sitapur Jail in Uttar Pradesh on May 20, a day after the Supreme Court had granted him interim bail in a cheating case.

As per reports, the Supreme Court stayed the Allahabad High Court’s bail condition of Azam Khan on Friday. In his plea, the Rampur MLA said that conditions pertain to the demolition of a part of the Jauhar University, that was reportedly built by occupying ‘enemy’ properties.

Notably, SP leader Azam Khan was lodged in jail for over two years in his alleged connection with several cases, including that of land grabbing.

Khan was granted bail in 88 out of 89 cases, and the grant of the interim bail by the Supreme Court paved the way for his release.

According to a report by PTI, a prison official said that the release order was received around 11pm on Thursday and the SP leader was released around 8am on Friday after following all the procedures.

Azam Khan, after his release was welcomed by his sons Abdullah Azam Khan and Adeeb Azam Khan, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohiya) leader Shivpal Singh Yadav, apart from a large number of supporters.
