New Delhi: Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi was discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Tuesday, said Ajay Swaroop, Chairman Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, reported ANI. The UPA chairperson was discharged from the hospital at around 3pm on Tuesday, he added.
Sonia Gandhi was admitted to the hospital last week for a routine check-up accompanied by her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She has been suffering from a respiratory infection for some time now.
Dr Ajay Swaroop, Chairman (Board of Management), Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said: "UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to our hospital today. She was admitted to the Department of Chest Medicine for observation and treatment of a viral respiratory infection."
Sonia Gandhi fell ill on Tuesday, prompting her and Priyanka to return to Delhi after participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Priyanka Gandhi did not join the Yatra when it resumed on Wednesday morning.
Bharat Jodo Yatra Reaches Punjab
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid obeisance at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib Wednesday morning before beginning Punjab leg of the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.
He sported a turban and wore a half-sleeved T-shirt to the place of worship.
Gandhi was accompanied by Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and other party leaders. Gandhi had on Tuesday offered prayers at the Golden Temple in Amritsar after concluding the Haryana leg of the march in Ambala district.

He reached Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib Tuesday evening and stayed for the night there.
Braving the harsh winters, a number of party workers had gathered here for the yatra.
According to the schedule of the Punjab-leg of the yatra, it will start from Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib and pass through Mandi Gobindgarh, Khanna, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Goraya, Phagwara, Jalandhar, Dasyua and Mukerian.
