New Delhi: Prime Minister Narednra Modi on Wednesday slammed who are opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill and said that none of those against it would understand the changes it will bring in the lives of lakhs of people.

Coming down heavily of those political parties which are against the bill, PM said that they are speaking the language of Pakistan.

“Some political parties are speaking the same language as Pakistan on the Citizenship Amendment Bill,” sources quoted him as saying.

Addressing BJP parliamentary party meeting, Modi likened the bill to the government's decision to nullify Article 370 and said it will provide permanent relief to minorities of neighbouring countries who arrived in India fleeing religious persecution.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said after the meeting: “PM Modi said the Citizenship Amendment Bill is a historic bill.  He said that the bill will be written in golden letters for people who are persecuted on basis of religion.”

About the tabling of the bill in the upper house scheduled for today, he said: “The Citizenship Amendment Bill will be tabled in Rajya Sabha at 12 pm today, and it will be passed in the house with comfortable majority.”

The contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill will be tabled in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday  noon at 12pm , two days after it cleared the Lok Sabha test. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is confident that the proposed legislation will be passed by the House with a comfortable majority, despite a suspense over the stand of the Shiv Sena and the JDU.
