New Delhi: A 10-year-old boy lost his life after a skipping rope he was playing with got entangled around his neck. The incident took place in North West Delhi’s Kartar Nagar near Usmanpur around 7 pm on Wednesday, according to media reports.
The reports said police suspect the minor was trying to replicate a stunt he saw on the television or online. Since no evidence has been found and it is considered to be accidental, the police haven’t filed a case yet.
The boy’s parents were not at home when the incident took place. While his mother was on the second floor of their home, his father was at work, according to a Times Now Report. After he was rushed to hospital, the staff there informed the police that the 10-year-old had already passed away, the repprt said.
A report in The Indian Express said the police inquiry found no foul play and hence the matter was put under accidental death.

“We conducted an enquiry and found it to be a case of accidental death. There’s no foul play. No case has been registered and inquest proceedings under CrPC section 174 (unnatural death) have been initiated,” a senior officer was quoted by The Indian Express.
The officer also said: “The boy’s family told us he would watch a lot of stunt videos and he liked to play around. He was trying to enact one of the stunts with the rope. It got wrapped around his neck and it suffocated him. He couldn’t remove it and collapsed.”
