New Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad apprehended a Pakistani boat on Wednesday in the Indian waters, reported news agency ANI. The Pakistani boat had intruded 6 miles, approximately 9 kilometres, inside Indian waters with 40 kilograms of drugs worth Rupees 200 crore. The Pakistani boat was apprehended 33 nautical miles off Gujarat’s Jakhau coast by two fast attack boats of the Indian Coast Guard, reported the news agency. 


“In joint operation, Indian Coast Guard & Gujarat ATS apprehended a Pakistani boat 6 miles inside Indian waters with 40 kgs of drugs valued at Rs 200 cr. Two fast attack boats of ICG caught a Pakistani boat 33 nautical miles off Jakhau coast in Gujarat,” said an official of the Indian Coast Guard. 






The crew members have been caught and further investigation into the matter is underway. 


“Pakistani crew along with boat are being brought to Jakhau for further investigation,” said ICG officials. 


According to the Indian Coast Guard, six crew members were on the boat, Al Tayyasa in Indian waters of Arabian sea with 40 kilograms of heroin. 


Earlier on June 2, a Pakistani boat with seven crew members on board was seized by the Indian Coast Guard off the Gujarat coast.

The Pakistani boat, suspected of transporting contraband, was arrested by the ICG on the evenings of May 30 and 31, based on intelligence supplied by the Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), news agency PTI had reported.


Following apprehension, the boat was transferred to Okha in Devbhumi Dwarka for additional rummage and inquiry, as per the PTI report. 


“The Pakistani boat ‘Al Noman’ with seven crew members was apprehended by ICG ship ‘Arinjay’ on the intervening nights of May 30 and 31 based on an intelligence input shared by the Gujarat ATS that it was carrying a consignment of contraband,” Defence sources were quoted by PTI in its report.
