Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the residence of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in Mansa district on Tuesday and expressed condolences to his family, PTI reported. Gandhi drove straight to the singer's native village Moosa after landing at the Chandigarh airport.


Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa, former deputy chief minister OP Soni and other party leaders.


Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants last week. The Congress leader was out of country when the popular Punjabi singer was killed.



Moose Wala had contested from the Mansa seat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections on a Congress ticket.


Earlier on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met  Moose Wala’s family at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Chandigarh. He was in the city to inaugurate Khelo India Games.


Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also met the parents of Moose Wala Friday, june 3 and expressed grief over the incident. He assured the family members of swift and strict action in the case and hit out at opposition parties for "playing politics" over the singer's death.


On May 29, the Punjabi singer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab's Mansa district, a day after the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann removed security cover of 412 VVIPs


The video footage that surfaced showed the singer's car sprayed with bullets, with a number of them piercing the windscreen and the bonnet.
