The income of the farmers has increased in the last ten years and it has doubled in several areas like horticulture, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Wednesday.

"It would be wrong to say that the income of the farmers has not increased. There might be some circumstances like natural disasters, but the income of the farmers have definitely increased in the last 10 years and in many cases where they produce multiple crops like horticulture, the income has doubled," Shivraj Singh Chouhan said while speaking at ABP Shikhar Sammelan.

The Union Minister said that the sector of horticulture is repeatedly increasing and its output is regularly increasing.

On the question of allocation to Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme in the budget, the Agriculture Minister said, "Under Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers have got Rs 3.24 lakh crore in their accounts. The Congress once talked about waiving loans and they waived Rs 60,000 crores. But we are putting more than Rs 60,000 crores every year."

The veteran BJP leader also spoke about BJP's dismal performance in the Lok Sabha Elections.

"It has been the first time since 1962 when a government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, got a majority and became the prime minister for a third term... But this is a democracy. How can we say that we can only get these many seats. We plan and try, but the seats keep increasing or decreasing," Shivraj said.

On the question of BJP's loss in Ayodhya, Shivraj said, "This is their frustration that manifests. They can roam around by making him (Awadhesh Prasad) a symbol, but in democracy, some states got less seats and some states got more seats."

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister lauded the Union Budget saying, "It has taken into account not only the problems with agriculture today, but also how farming should be there in the future and how should the land be preserved for future generations."

Budget is the foundation of a developed India which is the aim of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for 2047, he said

Shivraj thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and congratulated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the budget, which was presented in the Parliament on Tuesday.
