Shivarajkumar, veteran Kannada actor, recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous bladder at a hospital in Miami, USA. Dr. Murugesh Manoharan, the surgeon who performed the procedure, confirmed that the operation was a success in a video message. An artificial bladder was created using the actor's intestine during the surgery.
Dr Manoharan was joined in the video by Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa and Shivarajkumar’s wife, Geetha, who is also Bangarappa’s sister.
In a press release, Shivarajkumar’s family shared that the surgery, performed earlier on Wednesday, was successful. "We are pleased to share an update regarding Shivarajkumar's recent medical procedure. The surgery performed earlier on Wednesday was successful and we are glad to report that Shivarajkumar is now in stable condition and recovering well," the statement read, as per a report on PTI. The actor’s vitals remained stable throughout the operation and post-operative care.
The family expressed gratitude to fans, colleagues, and well-wishers for their unwavering support and prayers. They assured that further updates on the actor’s recovery would be shared in due course.
Shivarajkumar, the eldest son of legendary Kannada actor Rajkumar, has an illustrious career spanning over 125 films. Known for his versatility, he made his debut with Srinivasana Kalyana in 1974 and gained acclaim for performances in films such as Janumada Jodi, Jogi, Anand, Ratha Sapthami, Nammoora Mandara Hoove, Om, and Chigurida Kanasu.
As the eldest among the three actor brothers—Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar—Shivarajkumar has been a pillar of the Kannada film industry.
