Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut slammed the Maharashtra government after YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav who was booked for the alleged use of snake venom at rave parties attended the Ganpati Arti at Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's residence. Raut asked whether the CM does not get intelligence on who is coming to his residence and if the Maharashtra government was connected to the drug trade in the state.
"...The biggest drug mafia of this country who sells snake venom, which is used in rave parties... He (Elvish Yadav) came to the CM's residence. He was welcomed and performed Lord Ganapati Aarti," said Raut on Saturday.
"Are the wires of the drug trade that is happening in Maharashtra connected to the (state) government? Does CM not have intelligence about who comes to your residence? ...The nation wants to know because this drug case is related to the nation," he added.
Responding to the attack, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that people from all walks of life come to the CM residence including celebrities. Elvish Yadav had won the reality show and so attended the event at CM Shinde's residence, he said, adding that there were no allegations against Yadav at that time.
"Whenever Ganeshotsav happens at the CM residence, celebrities come there. People from all walks of life come there. I think Elvish (Yadav) won a reality show at that time, so he must have been brought there. There were no allegations against him at that time," Fadnavis said while talking to reporters on Saturday.
"I think dragging CM into all this is absolutely wrong. If someone does something wrong, they will be punished. But accusing CM is wrong," he added.
Yadav, along with five others were booked under the Wildlife (Protection) Act and criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the use and supply of snake venom for recreational purposes. The social media influencer rejected the allegations as "absolutely baseless and fake" adding that he would cooperate with the Uttar Pradesh police in the probe.
