The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir arrested four associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in the Budgam district, reported PTI citing police said on Tuesday. As per the agency, they were arrested in the Beerwah area of the central Kashmir district, a police spokesman said. The associates have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, a resident of Gondipora Beerwah, Azhar Ahmad Mir, a resident of Chewdara Beerwah, and Irfan Ahmad Sofi and Abrar Ahmad Malik – both residents of Arwah Beerwah, the reporter added. As per the spokesperson, they are all linked to the proscribed terror outfit LeT, quoted PTI.

The spokesperson added that incriminating materials were recovered from their possession, all of which have been taken into case records for further investigation. He said, as per PTI, that a case has been registered and an investigation has been taken up.

On the other hand, four terrorists were killed by the security forces in a joint operation in the Sindhara area of Poonch early Tuesday morning, reported ANI citing Indian Army officials. They said that the first encounter took place late night on Monday after which drones were deployed along with other night surveillance equipment. The army officials added that on Tuesday morning, the encounter started again with a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and terrorists.

"Indian Army’s Special Forces, Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police troops along with other forces were part of the operation. The terrorists killed in the operation are most likely foreign terrorists and their identity is being ascertained," the officials were quoted as saying by ANI.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday terminated the services of three more government employees for actively working with Pakistani terror outfits and providing logistics to terrorists, propagating terrorist ideology, raising terror finances and furthering secessionist agenda, news agency ANI reported. They have been terminated under Article 311 (2) (C) of the Indian Constitution which allows the government to terminate an employee without conducting an inquiry. As per ANI, an early investigation revealed that the said employees were allegedly acting on behalf of Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and terror outfits.
