New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Sunday detained Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam. The Rajya Sabha MP was detained by the probe agency following raids that were conducted at his residence in Mumbai, reported news agency ANI. Following his detention, Raut said the he "won't bow down". "You can't beat that person..The one who never gives up! Won't bow down! Jai Maharashtra," he tweeted. Raut claimed that he was not involved in any scam and that the action initiated against him by the enforcement agency was based on false evidence.
He said that he will die, but will neither surrender nor quit the Shiv Sena in a series of tweets which he posted soon after the central agency started conducting a search at his residence in suburban Bhandup on Sunday morning.
"False action, false evidence. I will die, but will not surrender. I will never leave Shiv Sena. I swear by Balasaheb Thackeray that I am not involved in any scam. He taught us to fight and I will continue to fight for Shiv Sena," Raut said.
The Executive Editor of 'Dainik Saamna', Raut had skipped earlier two summons issued to him by the ED for questioning in the money laundering case linked to the alleged irregularities in the re-development of a Mumbai 'chawl' and related transactions involving his wife and 'associates'.
On July 1, the Rajya Sabha MP appeared before the central agency to record his statement.
