Five individuals have been booked in Pune, Maharashtra, for stuffing samosas meant for an automobile firm’s canteen with condoms, gutka and stones, in a bizarre plot allegedly aimed at undermining a contractor.
Three of the accused are partners in SRA Enterprises, which lost its canteen contract with the automobile firm after a bandage was allegedly found in a samosa it supplied, a police officer was quoted as saying in a PTI report.
The automobile firm, the officer said, subsequently hired Catalyst Service Solutions Pvt Ltd for supplying the snack, and this work was further outsourced to a subcontractor named Manohar Enterprises.
The samosas stuffed with condoms, gutka and stones were discovered by employees Saturday.
When staffers of Manohar Enterprises were questioned, police discovered that the incident was the handiwork of two workers, identified by the aforementioned officer as Firoz Shaikh and Vicky Shaikh.
“The two accused told us they are employees of SRA Enterprises and were sent by its partners to Manohar Enterprises to adulterate food supplied by the latter,” the officer said.
The partners have been identified as Rahim Shaikh, Azhar Shaikh, and Majhar Shaikh.
A case has been registered in the matter under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
“One person has been arrested. Further probe is underway,” the official said.
“The three partners had allegedly planted these two workers to ensure the firm that had got the samosa contract now would get defamed," he said.
Senior Police Inspector of Chikhli Police Station, Gyaneshwar Katkar spoke to ANI, he said, "On March 27, some harmful objects like condoms, gutka and stones were found in the samosa served in the canteen of Tata Motors car manufacturing plant." He further added,
