New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan on Monday asked the Chair to be “fair” and not take sides of any particular party, news agency ANI reported.

She even cursed the treasury benches saying, “Aapke bure din bohot jald aane waale hain” (your bad days will come very soon).

Jaya Bachchan delivered these remarks when she was asked by the Chair to participate in the ongoing discussion on the ‘Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2021’.

Beginning her speech, the Samajwadi Party MP first called out the Chair for not listening to the Opposition.

“Can we expect from you? What is going on? There are so many issues we are discussing over a Bill which is brought by the government to correct its mistake,” she said.

“Aap gala ghont dijiye hum sabka (you please strangulate us),” she added, as quoted by ANI.

Jaya Bachchan further told the Chair: “You should be fair and not support any particular party”.

A verbal spat ensued as BJP MP Rakesh Sinha raised the point of order alleging Jaya Bachchan of pointing the Chair. Samajwadi Party leader also wanted the Chair to take action against members, accusing him of making “personal remarks” against her.

However, the Chair presided by Bhuwaneswar Kalitha announced that the remarks which were not suitable would be expunged from the record. Kalitha had adjourned the House till 5 pm as the situation appeared to be nearly out of control.
