New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on his 82nd birthday. Samajwadi Party (SP) celebrate the founder and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and former Defense Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's birthday with simplicity at the SP headquarters in Lucknow today.


Many prominent leaders were to attend the celebration including Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohiya) President Shivpal Singh Yadav is also likely to attend the event, Samajwadi Party chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary told PTI on Sunday that the birthday of 'Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) will be celebrated with simplicity at the SP headquarters and will also be attended by Netaji and Akhilesh Yadav'.


According to a statement issued from the SP headquarters on Sunday, on the eve of Mulayam Singh Yadav's birthday, an event was organized under the leadership of the National President of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha Neha Yadav at the Sheroes Cafe here, in which acid attack victims were felicitated.


Earlier on Saturday, Rajendra Chaudhary had issued a statement saying that on the instructions of Akhilesh Yadav, the workers would celebrate the birthday of SP Patron Mulayam Singh Yadav with simplicity in every district on November 22. During this, a discussion will also be organized regarding Netaji's life struggle and continuous commitment to socialist ideology.


Mulayam Singh Yadav was born in Uttar Pradesh's Saifai village in 1939. Yadav started his early life as a teacher and was elected a member of the Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1967.


In 1977, he became a minister for the first time in the Uttar Pradesh government of the Janata Party led by Ramnaresh Yadav. In 1989, he became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the first time and after winning the election from Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency in 1996, he also became the Defense Minister in the United Front government. Yadav was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second time from 2003 to 2007. Mulayam Singh Yadav has had many big achievements in his long political career. He founded the Samajwadi Party in 1992.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on his 82nd birthday and said the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister has made an important contribution to the politics of the country.


"Happy Birthday to former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav ji. He has made an important contribution to the politics of the country. I wish him a healthy and long life", he tweeted in Hindi.


Similarly, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adithyanath too wished Mulayam Singh Yadav on his birthday. 


"Heartfelt wishes and best wishes to the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji on his birthday. I wish you good health and long life from Lord Shri Ram", he tweeted in Hindi.
