New Delhi: Mumbai Court on Monday sent Dhakar Ram Bishnoi, the accused who allegedly wrote a threatening email to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, to police custody till April 3, reported news agency ANI.
He was arrested yesterday from Rajasthan's Jodhpur district in a joint operation by Bandra Police and Rajasthan Police and was later taken to Mumbai.
Dhakad Ram Bishnoi (21) is a resident of Siyagon ki Dhani in Rohicha Kalan village, under the jurisdiction of the Luni police station in Jodhpur. As per the report, he was on bail in connection with an Arms Act violation case.
Jodhpur Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Gaurav Yadav said a team from Mumbai's Bandra police station arrived in the city on Sunday to arrest Bishnoi.
"They asked us to assist them in detaining Bishnoi. We provided them support and handed Bishnoi over to the Mumbai Police," Yadav was quoted as saying by PTI.
The complaint about the threat e-mail was recently filed at the Bandra police station by one Prashant Gunjalkar, who police say routinely visits Salman Khan's Bandra apartment and operates an artist management company.
As Gunjalkar was in Khan's office in Galaxy Apartment recently, he discovered an email from the ID "Rohit Garg." "Goldy Bhai (gangster Goldy Brar) wants to talk to Salman Khan face-to-face to close the matter," the e-sender mail wrote, adding, "Agli baar, jhatka dekhne ko milega (You'll see something shocking)," as per the report.
After receiving the threat email, the Mumbai police filed a first information report (FIR) against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. According to the police, the FIR was filed under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It is alleged that Bishnoi had also threatened the family of Sidhu Moosewala, which led to a case being registered against him in Punjab. After the Mumbai Police's investigation, the Punjab Police will also take Bishnoi into custody.
'No Link Between Accused And Lawrence Bishnoi': Jodhpur Police
Jodhpur DCP said that the accused was arrested by the Sardarpura police in September last year for illegally possessing a weapon and was released on bail. However, no connection between him and Lawrence Bishnoi or any other local gang has been discovered during the investigation, he added.
According to Jodhpur police, a case was also filed against Bishnoi on March 24 at Mansa's Sadar police station in Punjab for sending a similar threatening email to the father of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
On Sunday, a team of Punjab Police officers also arrived in Jodhpur to arrest Bishnoi, he said.
However, the Punjab Police will have to wait until the Mumbai Police complete their investigation before claiming Bishnoi's custody, he added.
